Synthetic Meadow
Inflatable sculpture, astro turf, projection

Portland Winter Lights Festival 2025, World Trade Center Plaza, in collaboration with Genevieve Hildebrand-Chupp

A sculptural screen in the shape of an S-curve is placed at the center of a circular patch of artificial grass. The screen is made up of three parallel layers, each stretched with translucent fabric.

Video is projected onto both sides of the structure, each portraying shifting flowers and organic forms that move gently, rhythmically - the dreamlike memories of a meadow.

Guests can interact by gently swaying large sculptural flowers that surround the screen, or by sitting on soft grass-like tuffets. The piece invites visitors to step into the role of a pollinator, using their movement to animate this surreal, hybrid landscape.

The work reflects on our relationship to nature—how it’s remembered, mediated, and reimagined in a digital age.
